Iraqi Kurds Reject Islamic State

The second-place finishing Kurdish alliance have come out forcefully against an Islamic state in Iraq. An official from one of the two main Kurdish parties stated bluntly:

"What Kurds want is a republican regime founded on the principle of rotation
of power, with a parliamentary system, a separation of powers and a separation
of religion and the state."

ASIDE: Here's an interesting profile from Knight-Ridder of one of the few Christian members of the new Iraqi parliament, elected largely on the strength of Western-based exile votes.
