Leaving Blogtown

There comes a time in every blogger's life when he or she decides that blogging is a huge, thankless, utterly vain, pain the in the ass, goddamned waste of time.

Normally, this phase passes.

When it doesn't, you know that it's time to move on to other things. A few friends (Shelly & Peter, to name but the more significant ones) have convinced me to work just that little bit harder on the writing projects that might result in an actual paycheck.

Creating and developing A Western Heart in co-operation with its brilliant team of contributors has been an honour. For the last few months I've been an absentee landlord for the majority of the time, and for the blog to take the next few steps forward in terms of enhanced readership, it will have to be under the strategic guidance of someone who still has the lean, hungry predator look about them, and not the fat, apathetic cardinal look I've begun to adopt.

James Ozark is all of those things, managing to balance those traits with his easy manner, friendly way and professional attitude towards writing. Sherry Keller will (as ever) be the velvet glove to his iron fist, and together I know they'll make a hell of a team.

As for the rest of you contributors, you've all been promoted. Unlike Mr Clinton, when I retire I don't set criminals free. I just promote people to "senior" contributors. Yes, even the new people. Our readership has swelled thanks to you, and will continue to do so.

Thanks to our readers, you've been wonderful company, and I know that our very western fraternity will soon grow beyond the three thousand people who currently visit us every day.

Farewell, and good luck to you all.
