End of days

Its all going down the crapper, we were told, we will all be slaves, oh no, who can save us, only the bomber and his loose alliance of unions and eco-terrorists. Save us bomber, save us from the wretched Howard Junta, we can’t wait till the bomber tears it all up.

But wait, it is really as bad as they insisted hysterically.
In another sign of the underlying strength of the Australian economy, labour force figures for July showed a 50,100 person increase in the number of people in employment. The number of those without a job fell by 14,100 to 513,900.

The unemployment rate of 4.8 per cent is the lowest in thirty years.

Prime Minister John Howard welcomed the result and said it put a lie to union boss Bill Shorten and Labor leader Kim Beazley’s claims that the workplace reforms would lead to mass sackings.

”There is no better financial indicator in this economy that people who want a job can get a job," he said. He said he was particularly pleased that about 80 per cent of the jobs created in the last year were full-time.

”It is a reason why we should be optimistic and why we should put our faith in further reform," he said.
But humble as ever.
Mr Howard said it was too early to say whether the removal of unfair dismissal laws in March had an effect.
Cut em loose Kim, you know you have to.
