A boy's life, worth four years

LiveNews - Two teenagers who killed a 17-year-old boy in an "entirely senseless, unprovoked and callous" fight in the streets of Griffith have been given prison terms of three and a half and four years. The boys, who cannot be named, had been drinking alcohol and had earlier attended a NewYear's Eve party on the city's outskirts when they encountered the 17-year-old, known only as AF, in the city centre in the early hours of the morning. One of the boys, both aged 15 at the time, was "spoiling for a fight", Supreme Court Justice Megan Latham, said. He headbutted AF once or twice, while the other boy punched him in the head. AF collapsed on the road and could not be revived.

That's our justice system at work, what some would call a superior system. If he had been allowed to carry a gun, perhaps he would be alive today. I guess the gun-control folks would say, look on the bright side, at least he wasn't shot to death.
