Two cheers for Rudd!

What he says below sounds heartfelt, as it should be. He really is a patriot, whatever else his failings may be. And he shows a proper appreciation of the military, something rare among Leftists. I think the fact that he is a Queenslander has helped ensure that he has some good old-fashioned attitudes. Keating is just the bag of hate that he usually is. He seems to spend most of his life snarling at anything and everything. He must be a very unhappy man

Kevin Rudd says former Labor prime minister Paul Keating is wrong to reject the popular view that Australia was redeemed at Gallipoli. The Prime Minister said he believed Gallipoli was fundamental to the Australian national identity. "I think Paul is completely wrong on that, completely and utterly, absolutely 100 per cent wrong," he said on Fairfax radio in Sydney.

Speaking at a book launch in Sydney yesterday, Mr Keating said he had never visited Gallipoli and never would, and those who visited on Anzac day were misguided. He said he was disappointed some Australians still held the view that Australia was redeemed at Gallipoli. "An utter and complete nonsense," Mr Keating said. "Without seeking to simplify the then bonds of the empire and the implicit sense of obligation, or to diminish the bravery of our own men, we still go on as though the nation was born again or even was redeemed there."

Today Mr Rudd said Gallipoli was a searing national experience in which thousands and thousands of brave Australians lost their lives. "That is part of our national consciousness. It's part of our national psyche, it is part of our national identity," he said. "I, for one, as Prime Minister of the country, am absolutely proud of it."

Mr Rudd said the bottom line was that Australian men and women in uniform, whether on the shores of Gallipoli, on the western front, in the jungle at Kokoda, Milne Bay, Buna or Gona, right through to those now serving in Afghanistan and Iraq, gave us enormous pride. "The reason is they are engaged in ultimately a selfless act, putting their lives on the line for the rest of us," he said. "We may quibble as politicians and as the political community about some of the decisions which led to particular military engagements." But that was a matter for politicians, he said.

"The sheer naked act of courage of Australian men and women in uniform putting their lives on the line on behalf of all of us, that is the core to the shaping of the Australian national identity for more than 100 years," he said.

Poltitians Debate Global Warming in the Snow, But Don't Notice

As MK noted in a post below London was hit with snow for the first time in October in almost 75 years. And Switzerland has seen the greatest snowfall in October since they started measuring the stuff. (swissinfo.ch) The amazing thing is that Politicians can't bring themselves to notice or even look out the window for that matter. Parliament was in session during the recent snow fall in London reading a Bill to combat global warming of all things.

Snow fell as the House of Commons debated Global Warming yesterday - the first October fall in the metropolis since 1922. The Mother of Parliaments was discussing the Mother of All Bills for the last time, in a marathon six hour session.

In order to combat a projected two degree centigrade rise in global temperature, the Climate Change Bill pledges the UK to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by 80 per cent by 2050. The bill was receiving a third reading, which means both the last chance for both democratic scrutiny and consent.

The bill creates an enormous bureaucratic apparatus for monitoring and reporting, which was expanded at the last minute. Amendments by the Government threw emissions from shipping and aviation into the monitoring program, and also included a revision of the Companies Act (c. 46) "requiring the directors’ report of a company to contain such information as may be specified in the regulations about emissions of greenhouse gases from activities for which the company is responsible" by 2012.
Source

None of the politicians debating (if you can call it that) the bill noticed the irony of it all. Rather than deal with more pressing matters threatening the British people, such as creeping Sharia, or the economic crisis, Parliament decided to club their constituents with burdonsome economic restrictions meant to combat the phantom menace of global warming. Anyway, the biggest threat is 2012 when the Maya calendar runs out and the world comes to an end, luckily Parliament will have its report on greenhouse gas activities by then.

When you elect fools

news.com.au - PRIME Minister Kevin Rudd has, for the first time, acknowledged that Australian household budgets will have another two years of battering from the global financial spin-out. And he says there will be "bumps and pain" along the way and higher unemployment. ...... "I think it's fair to say we're not looking at a challenge over a couple of months. We're looking at a challenge over a couple of years. "And this will be tough."
But not tough enough for PM Rudd's cronies to push ahead with their stupid war on carbon and climate change.
The West - Early action to tackle climate change will reduce gross national product by just a tenth of a per cent a year, with the economy continuing to grow strongly, the federal government says. Treasurer Wayne Swan and Climate Change Minister Penny Wong said Treasury modelling of the economic impact of an emissions trading scheme showed early action to tackle climate change would sustain growth, create new jobs and protect the economy into the future. They said the economy would continue to grow strongly as carbon emissions were reduced.
They also waffled something about low-income families being compensated by the government. I simply wish the morons reporting this would tell the public out there that what they mean by, 'compensated by the government', is that it'll be the rest of us deemed 'well-off' or perhaps 'extreme capitalists' who will be the ones doing the compensation, not our treasurer dipping into his personal savings account or something.

Having said this, if you think that the treasury modelling, fancy pie graphs and the words of this moronic administration can be believed, try telling that to the thousands of investors whose money is locked out thanks to PM Rudd and his gaggle of socialist weasels.
news.com.au - Australians with more than $25 billion trapped in 56 investment funds and wanting a solution have been told to await the outcome of an inquiry by regulators. Mr Swan last night refined the Government's universal bank deposit guarantee, announced nearly a fortnight ago, placing a voluntary fee on deposits of $1 million-plus from November 28. The Government has also widened the guarantee to include foreign bank branches. Billions of dollars have been frozen to prevent a run on mortgage funds, and Mr Swan said regulators were "assessing all relevant action". Just a day after telling concerned investors to go to Centrelink in the event of financial difficulties caused by the freeze, he said more detailed consultation was needed.
Long story short, the bank guarantee that these morons hurriedly put together so that PM Rudd can look like he's doing something, anything no matter how ill-concieved set off a mad rush of people withdrawing funds and shoving it into the banks that were guaranteed under his grand scheme. This left those who worked and saved their money in managed funds high and dry. They can't touch the money they worked for and saved for the rainy days. So in effect those that worked and saved for the rainy days got punished, those that didn't got rewarded.

Now that the fools have figured out that they screwed up, suddenly they want more time and 'detailed consultation', that means he has no clue, never did and probably never will. Heavens above America, learn from us, this is what happens when you elect fools and closet-socialists. But once it's done, it's done, you're stuck with them till the next election rolls around.

Even then, thanks to a fawning, compliant media, there is no guarantee that enough of your countrymen will figure out what's really going on and get their kicking boots on.

"Holocaust denier" wins first round

Germany is trying to prosecute an Australian citizen for things he said in Australia:

"CONTROVERSIAL Australian historian Frederick Toben has won the first round of his fight against extradition to Germany from Britain. A London judge ruled overnight that the European arrest warrant used to detain Dr Toben in Britain for extradition earlier this month was invalid because it did not provide enough detail.

However, the case appears far from over, with lawyers representing German prosecutors, who want to try Dr Toben for his alleged anti-Semitic views, preparing to appeal to Britain's High Court.

Dr Toben's solicitor Kevin Lowry-Mullins described today's ruling as a victory and said the academic, who has been granted bail, looked forward to the High Court hearing his case.

Dr Toben was arrested while in transit at London's Heathrow airport on October 1 under a warrant issued by Germany, which accuses him of racism and publishing anti-Semitic views.

Unlike in Britain, Holocaust denial is a crime in Germany and offenders can face up to five years in jail.... The High Court is expected to hear Dr Toben's case early next year.

A small reflection about the relationship between England and Australia

Most Americans feel proud, pleased and blessed to be born in America. And rightly so. Australians and the English feel similarly and for similar reasons. But from the large and constant stream of English immigrants arriving in Australia, one gathers that a lot of the English like some sunshine with their English heritage. And there is more than sunshine to it. I remember a recent arrival in Australia who hailed from Yorkshire saying to me that Australia is "Yorkshire with brass", where "brass" is Northern slang for money. He was oversimplifying but there was a lot of truth in what he said nonetheless. The ties between England and Australia are a lot closer than either side will normally admit. Australians speak derisively of the English (calling them "Poms") and the English speak derisively of Australians (calling them "colonials").

But it remains true that both nationalities feel very much at home in the others' country. And I am probably a rather extreme example of that. When I was growing up in Australia in the 1950s, I grew up into a society that was very Anglophilic. Many Australian-born people still copied their parents' usage and referred to England as "home". And we had a Prime Minister (Sir Robert Menzies) who described himself as "British to his bootstraps". And I remember crying -- aged about 9 -- when it was announced that the King had died. An even stronger influence than all that, however, stemmed from the fact that I was a great book reader from an early age. And most if not all boys' books available were written and published in England for the English. So I grew up in a mental world that was half-English: Which was a very good start on understanding English thinking.

So when I first arrived in England in 1977 I found a few peculiarities but in general had no social difficulties -- which is saying something if you know the intricacies of English social rules. I imagine that I did transgress in various ways from time to time -- but never enough to be a bother. In fact my high level of social acceptance would have been the envy of many Englishmen. I was materially assisted in that by the fact that an educated Australian accent is quite close to RP ("Oxford" English) and accent is enormously important in England. Any Australian accent is in fact closer to RP than are many regional English accents. So I was often told in England that I had a "soft" accent -- meaning that although detectably Australian it was not beyond the pale in in the Home Counties. My conservative politics tend to go down well in the Home Counties too.

An amusing effect of this close but usually denied affinity is the way that some Australian women have constructed for themselves a version of English "society". In England there really is such a thing as "society" -- basically the English aristocracy. The Australian version is of course self-selected rather than genetically selected but they do a moderately good job of imitating the English original. And part of that is that they do a rather good job of imitating the speech of the English original. I remember one example vividly. When I was talking on the phone to Laurie, she sounded to me just like Margaret, who is an English lady I know who really is a born member of the English aristocracy.

So who was Laurie? She was the daughter of my father's accountant. In other words we both grew up in a small Australian country town -- going to school in bare feet in a tropical environment -- an environment beset by such perils as taipan snakes, funnelweb spiders, box jellyfish, finger cherries and crocodiles, rather than the more pleasant English phenomena of crocuses, daffodils, cuckoos and skylarks. From that humble beginning, however, Laurie had acquired all the language, mannerisms and values of the English aristocracy. And I imagine that she did so without ever visiting England.

It reminds me of something that someone wrote (probably Andrew Ian Dodge -- an Anglophilic American) when I first started putting up my "Eye on Britain" blog. He said that this is a blog about England from an outsider's point of view -- but the author really isn't an outsider because he is an Australian. Very insightful.

It’s Global warming folks!

Daily Mail - Thousands of homeowners were today without power after high voltage cables were brought down by the night's snowfall. ......Even London was hit by a light dusting last night - the first time the capital has seen snow in October since 1934. ......While the capital woke to its first October blanketing since 1934, the rest of the South had its first pre-Halloween snowfalls since the 1970s. The unseasonal flurries, caused by a blast of air from the Arctic, were welcomed by millions of children in the middle of their half-term holidays.
Heavens above, I thought the arctic was melting, all the polar bears had drowned and Al Gore had set sail in his tofu-powered, million-dollar yacht as the rising seas engulfed his recycled mansion somewhere in the middle of what used to be America. What’s all this about snow like 1934, I thought we’re were all dropping dead from the searing heat, not freezing our asses off as the beloved planet burns away!
......While the wintry dusting soon vanished in Wednesday's sunshine and showers, more snow was forecast for Wales last night. Bookmakers were forced to slash the odds of a white Christmas from 8/1 to 6/1 in London after a flurry of bets, despite assurances from the Met Office that the winter will be a mild one. ......Met Office spokesman Barry Gromett said: 'The last time snow was on the ground in the South East in October was 1974, while London hasn't had October snow on the ground for 74 years.'
Aren't we Australians glad our glorious leader Dudd08 had declared war, glorious war on climate change. Why I even heard his second-in-command [sorry Julia], General Wong this morning declaring that she would press ahead with the death-to-carbon emissions-trading scheme even though the Ruddster screwed up [as expected] his attempt to keep the global financial crisis at bay. Don't worry about job security, rising costs and all that, we must press on folks, we must beat back that evil fiend carbon. We must pay extra to live our lives, sacrifices must be made, suck it up.

Why, you dare to ask, well presumably since we're all going to burn to a crisp, I'm assuming it's to keep things cold, a sort of constant winter or something. I'm not entirely sure as the relevant leaders aren't all that big on actual milestones, no more thunderstorms, going to get colder, more fish in the sea etc, nothing like that. Why, don't you trust them?

I just hear a lot of waffle about setting examples and that we're all going to burn if we don't pay, so I'm sure it's real. They wouldn't lie to us would they, surely not Kevvie from Brissie with his Wheatties and his freshly baked ideas, say it ain't so.

Just desserts...

Remember this jackass.
Telegraph UK - Russell Brand was forced to cut jokes about Sarah Palin sending her own daughter to the electric chair when he presented the MTV Video Music Awards, he has said. ......But Brand, who called for Americans to vote for Democratic nominee Barack Obama in the presidential elections, claimed censors at the channel had already toned down his routine and vetoed several jokes. He said: "I had John McCain gags pulled. And they asked me to tone down the gags about Sarah Palin. I wanted to say she was forcing her teenage daughter to have a baby because she is so anti-abortion. "But also, as a Republican she is pro-execution so she is going to give her the electric chair for being a little slut.
He went on to say a few other things that really aren't worth mentioning. Anyway it would appear this fellow seems to be some sort of professional ass and it's not just in America where folks have finally tired of him. Though, I think the Americans tired of of his.... er.... assness(?) after the first 30 seconds, I hasten to add.
Daily Mail - The BBC could face prosecution over obscene phone calls that Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand made to 78-year-old Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs. The controversial presenters left a series of lewd messages on Mr Sachs’s answerphone claiming, in shockingly explicit language, that Brand had had sex with his granddaughter, Georgina. ......The comedian then rang Mr Sachs. When the veteran actor didn’t answer his telephone, Brand left a message during which Ross shouted ‘He ****** your granddaughter!’, generating raucous laughter from the studio. Ross subsequently speculated that Brand had ‘enjoyed’ Georgina on a swing.
Again, he went on to say a few other things that really aren't worth mentioning. Only this time, the Brits have also had enough. I can't say for sure, but I think it's safe to say the 27,000 folks who took the trouble to complain demanded in their best English for a proverbial shoe of some size to be applied firmly to the relevant posteriors, post haste. Or as Americans would say, boot to ass!
Daily Mail - Russell Brand is resigning from his Radio 2 show in the wake of the controversy over calls made to Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs, he said tonight. His abrupt departure comes as Jonathan Ross, who also took part in the prank, issued a public apology over his 'juvenile and thoughtless' remarks. The pair were suspended by BBC Director General Mark Thompson after the corporation was flooded with more than 27,000 complaints.
Now if the Brits could apply the same boot-to-ass approach to the socialist parasites dragging their country down the toilet, that'd be real swell too. Oh and just so some of my personal haters know. Of those 27,000 complaints, over 3500 of them were from Mail Online readers. Even us tabloid peasants get to serve just desserts every now and then!

See No, Hear No, Speak No Socialists

Some of this has been out since April '08, but hasn't gotten the attention it would have gotten if it had been about McCain and not The Sacred Sock Puppet, obama (who, for the sake of brevity, will be referred to as The SSPo for the remainder of this post).
There's a lot here, people, so let's just get to it:

First, the LASlimes has been sitting on a video tape of The SSPo for nearly half the year, which shows him heaping praise on a (former?) PLO flunky, one Rashid Khalidi, who is - quite unsurprisingly - yet another "acquaintance" of the Weather Underground terrorist-cum-"educator" Bill Ayers, as this list of "obama rumors" that are TRUE illustrates.
Also, one of the links there is to a video by Sean Hannity and explores the connection further.
And, just in case anyone might doubt the actual relationship between Khalidi and The SSPo, here's a concise summary of their reciprocated fund-raising, shared dinner parties, and mutual admiration society...which lasted for as long as it was politically expedient for obama, of course.
What the hell, did they have their kids take turns washing each other's cars, too?

What the hell is it with "teachers"/"educators"/"professors" in the Chicago area?
Is it a mutha-fraggin' JOB REQUIREMENT that they have to be anti-American radical jackasses?

...yeah, I know, over 70% of America's college "educators" are acolytes of the Church of Liberalism.
....SIDE NOTE: Has anyone ever cared to take a guess at WHY that's the case?
Consider - during the 1960's and the Viet Nam war, one reasonably sure way to AVOID THE DRAFT was to be in college.
And remain in college.
And stay there, for years and years and years and....
And eventually, if they stayed there long enough, they got doctorates in Comparative PreColumbian Fecal Cave Art - or some other equally needful academic major - and became "educators"....
Does anyone think that those radicals somehow magically "lost" their insane ideologies somewhere along the line?

...yeah, right.....
Thus we have the current crop of old anti-American socialists preaching their shit to the new generations of young, idealistic twerps...like the SSPo.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled post:

Second, just in case anyone had any lingering doubts about how The SSPo is received around the rest of the world, consider the fact that he's not only been endorsed by Louis Farrakhan and his Nation of Islam, but he's also got Ali Larijani (speaker of the Iranian Parliament), Mohammar Qaddafi (dictator of Libya), most of the left-wing socialists/communists on the planet like tin-pots running the DPRK and Venezuela, lots of Arab fans in Syria and with Hamas and Hizballah, plus he's ALSO got a "grassroots" thing happening where young Palestinians are push-polling for obama.
...undoubtedly yet another "community organizer" thing....
If nothing else, at least all those foreigners are putting their money where obama's mouth is.
...whether or not that's legal would probably be considered yet another "racist comment"....

Then again, France's Nicholas Zarkozy has a decidedly different opinion about the SSPo.

Third, d
id you know that he ran for the Illinois State Senate as a member of the "Chicago New Party", which was established by the Democratic SOCIALISTS of America?

Still not convinced obama's a full-on Marxist?

Fourth, how about that 2001 interview The SSPo gave, where he whines about how the US Supreme Court didn't pursue "redistribution of wealth" in their civil rights rulings in the 60's.

Finally - for this post, anyways, since this isn't anywhere NEAR the end of all the truly spooky anti-American shit the liberalite media has been hiding about The SSPo! - here's the clincher on what kind of attitude obama has about judicial appointees.

Now, keep in mind that FIVE of the nine the US Supreme Court justices will never see the sunshine side of 70 again! How many of them do you think will still be on the sunshine side of the daisies by the end on of the next four years?
(Life Expectancy tables can be found here.)
Those are the UNELECTED oligarchs who can - AND ALREADY DID! - change America without any recourse for "We The People".
...as in the thoroughly socialist "Kelo Decision", where the government can - and did - take private property from one individual and give it to another, all on the faulty premise that the recipient would build on the properties and increase the tax base of the community.

And let's not forget that the Supreme Court Justices enjoy LIFETIME APPOINTMENTS, so you may rest assured that whomever the next President is (the person who picks those justices), their agenda will continue much longer than just the next four years.
YOUR GRANDKIDS WILL FEEL THE EFFECTS OF NEXT TUESDAY'S DECISION!
...think about that.
Think long and hard.

So, what questions remain about where The SSPo stands on socialism?
Only the question of whether he's actually related to Karl Marx
by blood or not, since they're ideological clones.......as always, special thanks to the cartoonists at TownHall.com

Group Pride, insecurity and the Left

Strictly speaking, the generalizability of the research below is limited by the sample they used but the conclusions are very ancient and almost certainly true. In ancient Athens, hubris (arrogant pride) was actually considered a crime while megalopsuchia (proper pride; big spiritedness) was a virtue. I follow the report below with a few notes about the wider implications of the research

From screaming baseball fans to political rally-goers, groups that engage in boastful self-aggrandizing may be trying to mask insecurity and low social status. "Our results suggest that hubristic, pompous displays of group pride might actually be a sign of group insecurity as opposed to a sign of strength," said researcher Cynthia Pickett, associate professor of psychology at the University of California, Davis.

The new study reveals how two types of pride are related to a person's good feelings about one social group or another to which they belong. These good feelings could come from being a Los Angeles Lakers fan (when they win), a war veteran, a member of a particular ethnic group or a sorority gal or fraternity brother. But while authentic pride is linked with real confidence in your group, hubristic pride is a false arrogance that belies insecurities about one's group. These results build on past research showing similar pride characteristics in individuals.

"It turns out, people who have the hubristic collective pride in their group, underlying it all is an insecurity about whether the group is good enough, really," said researcher Jessica Tracy, a psychologist at the University of British Columbia. The research was presented last week at a meeting of the Society for Experimental Social Psychology in Sacramento.

In three studies, Pickett, Tracy and their colleagues surveyed more than 300 undergraduate students, first asking each participant to write about an experience when they felt proud of their group. In one of these studies, students had to recall the UC Davis football win over Stanford. In another, Asian American students were asked to write about a proud experience tied with their ethnic background. Other experiences ranged from sports team wins to achievements by sororities, say raising a big chunk of money for a charity.

Each participant then rated to what extent they would use certain words to describe themselves at the time of the event or achievement. Some of the descriptors indicated hubristic pride, such as "snobbish," "pompous" and "smug," while others were linked with authentic pride, such as "accomplished," "successful" and "confident." Students also answered questions about the status of the group, including whether the group was valued by non-members, whether they themselves thought highly of the group, whether the group was under threat or in competition with another group, and other group-related questions.

The results showed that groups in which individuals boasted and gloated - a sign of hubristic pride - tended to have low social status or they were vulnerable to threats from other groups. So the worse the person felt about their group's status as well as how badly they thought the public viewed the group, the more likely that member would experience that empty, boastful pride. In contrast, those groups that expressed pride by humbly focusing on members' efforts and hard work tended to have high social standing in both the public and personal eyes.

Hubristic pride can rear its ugly head in both small groups like sports teams and larger groups like citizens of a country. "A lot of this has real-world implications," Tracy told LiveScience. "There are some kinds of collective pride where people get really angry and hostile and feel like 'it's not just that my group is great but my group is better.'" She added, "You can think of it as the distinction between nationalism and patriotism, with nationalism being the sense of it's not just that I love my country, it's that my country is best."

When group members show signs of hubristic pride, such as making grandiose statements about their country, that could be a sign of underlying insecurity, the researchers said. "When you hear groups starting to get into that type of rhetoric it may be because they're starting to realize they're in a losing position and that they need to do something to try to drum up respect, to drum up the kind of status that they feel they're lacking," Pickett said.

The first thing that needs to be stressed about the above findings -- something the authors themselves imply -- is that not all group loyalty is dysfunctional. Tribalism or group action is very common in the animal world -- from ants to apes -- and it is part of humanity too. Leftists tend to deny that, however. They see any kind of group loyalty -- such as patriotism -- as primitive. And tribalism certainly is a prominent feature of primitive societies. That something is primitive does not mean that it is weak, however. And in fact tribal loyalties of one sort or another still to this day dominate most human societies. In Muslim lands, for instance, there is virtually no loyalty to the nation. All loyalty is to your tribe, to your clan, to your kinship group or to your religion.

As Emmanuel Todd, a French Leftist historian, correctly pointed out, it is the Anglo-Saxons who are deviant. To Southern Europeans, the English family is incomprehensible. It appears pathologically fractionated. Instead of strong family loyalties, the English simply go their own way once they leave home and have almost no further contact with one-another by normal human standards. I saw this in the late '60s when I was doorknocking with a social survey in an ethnically mixed area of Sydney. One of the questions I asked was: "How often do you see relatives?" The Greeks and Italians would usually say: "Every weekend". By contrast, about half the Anglo-Australians said: "Never!".

So if even family ties are so weak among Anglo-Saxons, one can understand that tribal loyalties are very limited -- usually seen only in attachment to particular sporting teams. Sport is a re-enactment of real combat so it is a very primitive thing and draws out primitive reflexes.

But tribalism DOES have some life among Anglo-Saxons outside sport. In particular, Anglo-Saxons do have some attachment to their own nation and ethnic group. They put up surprisingly well with having other ethnic groups living among them but their preference nonetheless is generally for their own ethnic group. See here, for instance. And this tattered remnant of group loyalty is what Leftist routinely stigmatize as "racism".

Ironically, however, it is Leftists themselves who seem to have the strongest group orientation. Contrast the lukewarm support of conservatives for McCain with the hysterical adulation for Obama on the Left. And, from Hegel through Hitler ("Ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Fuehrer") to Obama, it is Leftists who glorify unity and seem to regard as ideal an anthill type of existence where everybody obeys implicitly direction from the top. So Leftists are clearly the political fanatics. And the research above does therefore identify them as the most insecure.

And there is reason for that insecurity and its compensatory fanaticism. They know that what they really want is the utter destruction of the "system" in which they live and there is always a great risk that the mask will come off that and expose them for the haters and destroyers that they are.

And that Islamic hypersensitivity about "insults" reflects insecurity is a common observation. They certainly have little to be proud of by way of real recent achievements and their sensitivity to slights shows that they know that a low opinion of them and their hamstrung lifestyle has some justification. By contrast, cartoons ridiculing Christians are routine (usually from the Left) but I have yet to hear of any Christian demands to behead cartoon publishers.

Australia to get compulsory internet filtering

The Federal Government is planning to make internet censorship compulsory for all Australians and could ban controversial websites on euthanasia or anorexia. Australia's level of net censorship will put it in the same league as countries including China, Cuba, Iran and North Korea, and the Government will not let users opt out of the proposed national internet filter when it is introduced.

Broadband, Communications and Digital Economy Minister Stephen Conroy admitted the Federal Government's $44.2 million internet censorship plan would now include two tiers - one level of mandatory filtering for all Australians and an optional level that will provide a "clean feed", censoring adult material. Despite planning to hold "live trials" before the end of the year, Senator Conroy said it was not known what content the mandatory filter would bar, with euthanasia or pro-anorexia sites on the chopping block. "We are talking about mandatory blocking, where possible, of illegal material," he told a Senate Estimates Committee.

Previously the net nanny proposal was going to allow Australians who wanted uncensored access to the web the option to contact their internet service provider and be excluded from the service.

Groups including the System Administrators Guild of Australia and Electronic Frontiers Australia have slammed the proposal, saying it would unfairly restrict Australians' access to the web, slow internet speeds and raise the price of internet access. EFA board member Colin Jacobs said it would have little effect on illegal internet content, including child pornography, as it would not cover peer-to-peer file-sharing networks. "If the Government would actually come out and say we're only targeting child pornography it would be a different debate," he said.

But the Australian Christian Lobby yesterday welcomed the Government's proposals. Its managing director Jim Wallace said he expected resistance from the industry but the measures were needed. "The need to prevent access to illegal hard-core material and child pornography must be placed above the industry's desire for unfettered access," Mr Wallace said.

Take em' to the cleaners

SMH - A teenage student of Lebanese descent had developed a phobia towards young males of Asian backgrounds after he was brutally assaulted by a group of Vietnamese youths, a Sydney court has heard. The attack on the former Birrong Boys High School student, who is now aged 26, occurred when he was a year 11 student at the south-western school on February 26, 1998.

The man, whose name was suppressed in the District Court today by Judge Len Levy, is suing the NSW Department of Education for breach of duty of care. ......He then saw the group of four Vietnamese youths approach him and, although there was a teacher on duty about 30 metres away, the four youths bashed him brutally, knocked him to the ground, kicked him and stabbed him.
If you read the whole article you get the impression that this fellow is angling for a fast buck. Whether that's accurate or not is irrelevant as far as I'm concerned. I have to say, I hope he wins and takes em' to the cleaners. The court ought to see this as natural justice and give it to the fellow as well, unless they're some sort of leftwing social justice court or something who are only interested in justice for the scum of the earth and not the law-abiding. Him and every other person that is a victim of crime in this country should sue and get compensation. Let me explain why.

In our schools, no matter how much caterwauling there is about bullying, non-violence and all that crap, kids are still getting bashed up, teachers are catching it, weapons are carried by scumbags and all that. Yet our laws won't allow the law-abiding kids to carry anything to protect themselves. Therefore within the school, the authorities are responsible for their safety. I understand that all violence cannot be prevented, but by their restrictive laws they are pretending otherwise, to the detriment of the victims. So until they let us try and protect ourselves, they must pay when they fail.

It's the same out on the street, we the law-abiding are not allowed to carry weapons of any sort on us to protect ourselves from criminals. If drug-gangs and criminals move into your neighborhood and start doing their thing, you can't go out and get a gun to protect yourself from them. Recently over in the Sydney area there was some vicious rapist going around raping & terrorizing women, those that heard about the warnings from the police weren't allowed to arm themselves knowing this scumbag is out there.

By not allowing us to protect ourselves, the state must take on the responsibility of protecting all of us, all the time. Yet every day the state fails when many of us we are stabbed, shot, murdered etc. Its duty of care towards us if you will, and because of that the state must pay compensation for the harm that it fails to prevent. Either that or give us our right to take care of ourselves.

I understand we already have compensation for victims of crime, but that ranges from $50,000 to about $100,000 depending on where you live. So depending on where you live, you could literally just be a cheap sack of skin, if that isn't discrimination, I don't know what is. Putting the difference aside, we ought to value ourselves at a lot more than a lousy $100K, unless you're some sort of socialist parasite or something. In which case I'm sure they'd value themselves at a lot more then!

I understand that it's not the state that will be paying if this fellow wins his case, it'll be us the taxpayer, and that's just fine with me too. After all, there is no push from us the citizens to the right to bear arms, most of us are perfectly happy to force everyone else to walk around bare-assed knowing fully well that the state cannot protect all of us, all the time. If we want the right to prevent someone else from protecting themselves with the easiest means available, then with that right must come the responsibility of protecting them or paying for the damages that are incurred.

Take em' to the cleaners.

Skeptical scientist has university certification revoked!

The Green/Left never stop trying to stifle dissent. Press release from Dr. David Deming [profdeming@earthlink.net] below. He is a geophysicist and an associate professor of arts and sciences at the University of Oklahoma who has published numerous peer-reviewed research articles. Dr. Deming's Senate December 6, 2006 testimony is available here. University President Boren is a "staunch supporter of Obama". One Fascist supports another, I guess

For ten years or more, professor David Deming has taught a course in environmental geology at the University of Oklahoma. In October 2008, he was informed that the "general education" certification for his course was being revoked. Under the University of Oklahoma system, this means that student enrollment in the course is likely to drop by two-thirds.

This is a course which receives outstanding student evaluations. Professor Deming is well-known to be a global-warming skeptic. In 2006, he testified before the US Senate that media coverage of global warming had descended into "irrational hysteria." See here.

Professor Deming is unaware of any other case in the history of the University of Oklahoma where the "gen ed" certification for a course has been revoked. It would appear possible that professor Deming's position on global warming was a motivating factor. But in this case, the tragedy is that the people being punished are the students, not the professor. Those who wish to express their concern can do so by writing or calling University of Oklahoma President David Boren.

Election 2000-hate

Hat tip The Average American.

Another Muslim rapist

Shades of Hakeem Hakeem and the Skaf brothers (etc.)!

A man has been jailed for eight years for raping an unconscious woman who woke to find him on top of her and his mates laughing and jeering. The Victorian County Court was told Mohammad Khan, 28, met the woman at the 3D nightclub in central Melbourne on December 9, 2006. The woman had been drinking and had taken ecstasy during the night when she met a group of men in the club linked to Khan, the court was told.

She was described by witnesses as being happy and alert before she awoke about 5.30am the next day in an alley to find a man on top of her assaulting her. The court was told two or three other males were watching and "laughing and jeering," Judge John Smallwood said. Judge Smallwood said the woman felt bewildered and believed she had been drugged. She yelled at the man to get off her.

A jury earlier rejected Khan's contention that the woman agreed to sex, and found him guilty of one count of rape. Judge Smallwood said Khan had taken advantage of a woman in a helpless and vulnerable situation. While he accepted that Khan had fallen into the drug and rave scene, he said he was clearly intelligent and would have been aware that what he was doing was wrong. He ordered Khan serve at least 5« years' jail.

Video Outlines Obama’s Rhetoric vs. His Record

Tonight, with less than ten days to go before election day, William J. “Bill” Federer sent me an e-mail. It included a link to a video, Barack Obama: Rhetoric vs. Record, featuring Foster Friess, a successful businessman and Army veteran living in Jackson Hole, Wyo. Because I hold Federer in such high esteem as a conservative, an author and a friend, I watched the video and now heartily recommend it to you.

Before you watch it, however, you should know a bit more about Friess’ beliefs and philosophy — information I found at his web site, FosterFriess.com. Unlike the Democratic Party presidential nominee, Friess believes in combating the negativity in our culture with uplifting, inspiring stories. He promotes and encourages the American dream — not to make everyone equal, but to provide each citizen the opportunity and freedom to pursue the potential God intended for them.

Strange flag ban

The world's most widely-followed football code is soccer but in Australia it is generally regarded as a game for "wogs and poms" (Europeans and Brits). The game does however have a considerable following in Melbourne and the biggest club there is Melbourne Victory. Melbourne Victory supporters at matches often wave the historic Eureka flag as a symbol of their club loyalty.

Why they do is a bit of a mystery as the Eureka flag in Australia is a symbol of rebellion and dissatisfaction, not the flag of the top dogs. But soccer's governing body has now banned them from displaying that flag "because it is considered a political symbol".

It is indeed a political symbol in that it is most often flown by extreme Leftists but that is clearly not the intent in this case. And there is no claim that the flag has caused any unusual disturbances. So I guess it is just the usual busybodies at work who like to dictate to everyone else.

Club supporters plan to defy the ban. So they will become the rebels that their flag symbolizes after all! Story here

Climate language must be changed

First "global warming" became "climate change". Now we have ...

"Government experts say the word "drought" is making farmers feel bad and want people to use the word "dryness" instead. Farmers also needed to accept that drier weather was here to stay, said a report by the Government's hand-picked Drought Policy Review Expert Social Panel. "Words like drought ... have negative connotations for farm families," the report said. "There needs to be a new national approach to living with dryness, as we prefer to call it, rather than dealing with drought."

Source

What makes farmers feel bad is lack of rain ... not what you call it.

A small personal note from a quiet Sunday morning

I gather that for most employed people the financial crisis has had negligible effects. I am however one of the investor class. As a retired man, I live almost entirely on the proceeds of my stockmarket investments. And about half of those investments are in Australian bank stocks. So I am in big trouble, right?

Not at all. One reason why I invested heavily in banks was that Australian banks had big meltdowns at the time of the Hawke/Keating deregulation. Most of the State banks went broke and even Westpac tottered a bit. And that all happened because of incautious lending to Alan Bond and his ilk. So I figured that they had learned their lesson and were not likely to risk any recurrence of that. And I was right. The Australian banks are in good shape. Their share prices are way down but as long as the dividends keep coming, why should I worry about that? The new high is always higher than the old high so the share prices will bounce back in due course.

And September/October is dividend time so I have had a good cash inflow recently. I like to keep a fair bit of cash on hand to fund the various gifts and donations that I give out from time to time. My own needs are minimal. I mostly give direct to the intended beneficiary. Giving to charitable organizations usually just supports a herd of parasites. Most of what you give to Big Charity pays for "administration". The only exceptions I make are that I do give to the Salvation Army and to Legacy. The fact that I have some army background is probably sufficient explanation for the latter and it explains a lot of the former too. Many old diggers will tell you how good the Sallies have been in wartime. And I do have a soft spot for real Christians.

Even so, I recently found that I did have about $10,000 that I had no obvious use for so I BOUGHT SOME MORE SHARES. Why everybody is not doing so rather escapes me. Prices are very rarely as low as they are at the moment. It is a great time to buy cheap.

And my remaining cash is mostly in banks. Though I do have a few thousand in a cash management trust.

All of which, in my view, shows one benefit of managing your own money rather than giving it to someone else to manage. I can ride out the share price downturn because I don't need to sell anything. But superannuation funds and the like are always having to sell in order to fulfill their obligations to people who have reached retiring age. So they are selling at a huge loss, which drags down the funds available to everybody on their books. Not smart!

So my recommendation is just buy blue-chip stocks in your own name as a way of saving for retirement.

Still Nothing To See Here....

Looks like an update is in order on this one - actually a LOT of updates could be posted in the saga of "Joe The Plumber", but I'm only putting the one here that should send a chill down the spine of everyone who loves freedom.

For the unpardonable sin of asking a non-fawning, non-filtered, non-preapproved question - and actually having the accidentally honest (for once) answer make it to the airwaves - the dumbascraps used GOVERNMENT resources to "dig up dirt" on an ordinary civilian!

If there's anyone reading that who doesn't see how the acolytes of The Sacred Sock Puppet have crossed the line into pure fascism, then they've drunk WAY too much koolaid and have seriously overdosed on the Cult of Personality.

fas-cism
: A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.

Twenty-four years after Orwell's prediction, "Big Brother" is crawling deeper into America. Pray that we avoid having a national collective brain-fart on 4 November, or - with pelosi and reid in control of Congress - it will be worse than anything the Founding Fathers could have ever imagined.

Bungling Kevin Rudd creates a financial crisis where there was none before

There were no problems with Australia's banks. They were and are still making profits. Sub-prime loans have not been a significant problem in Australia. So drama-queen Kevin Rudd had to puff up his own importance by "guaranteeing" bank deposits (which were already protected by long-standing "lender of last resort" facilities anyway). But he didn't guarantee other deposit-takers such as cash management trusts. Cash management trusts are widely used in Australia by those who have significant funds as they are the only way to get some interest on your money. Bank interest is negligible. So Rudd created the impression that only the banks were safe and caused a huge run on all the "left-out" institutions -- which now have had to suspend withdrawals -- with dire consequences for many, as seen below

SELF-FUNDED retiree Greg Russell is the human face of the Rudd government's mishandling of its response to the global financial meltdown: he now has $5 in his bank account. Because he put his money into a cash management account, Mr Russell's assets are frozen, along with those of his wife Debbie and the savings accounts of his two children. And, because he is in the process of selling his business, he still owes the tax man a big bill for his quarterly Business Activity Statement (BAS).

When the East Coast Mortgage Company on NSW's North Coast froze Mr Russell's assets on Tuesday, along with a raft of other secondary lenders, the results were shocking. He's had to take out a $50,000 loan to cover his BAS commitments and to maintain his, and his family's, living costs. East Coast Mortgage is just one of a series of institutions which have had to freeze customer deposits because the federal Government's guarantee of savers' deposits only applies to major banks. This has seen a flood of money pour out of smaller institutions, like East Coast Mortgage, which didn't get government backing.

East Coast isn't alone. Big non-bank players, such as AXA (formerly National Mutual), are among 13 major groups which have been forced to freeze withdrawals by depositors.

Treasurer Wayne Swan told people like Mr Russell, 59, that they should go to Government welfare agency Centrelink for income support if they found themselves in trouble. Mr Russell says the Treasurer doesn't know what he's talking about. "It's a complete joke,'' Mr Russell said. ``Imagine how the staff at Centrelink are going to cope with my circumstances.

"Wayne Swan is clutching at straws. There's pride involved here, as well. "Self-funded retirees don't want to be lining up at Centrelink. He's run out of ideas. They don't know what's going on. "I sold my business and have always supported local, well-run mortgage funds. "I have invested a large portion of the proceeds from the sale of my business into these organisations. I'm speaking, not only on behalf of myself, but for a large number of investors throughout Australia.

"The Government made a `rush of blood' decision to guarantee banks, credit unions and building societies and exclude mortgage funds. We now find there are $14 billion of frozen funds and how are investors going to survive throughout the next three, six and 12 months?'' As a result of the Government decision, Mr Russell has been left with $5 in his personal account and $165 in his business account at the NAB.

Five Minutes With Joe Biden.

Via Michelle Malkin.

Check this out:

I wish we had more of this reporting all the way through. Needless to say, some people feel like poor ole Joe Biden was ambushed, but I would have thought that the purpose of interviewing someone is to, like, you know.... ask questions?

And if you're in the market for audience numbers, then the more interesting/challenging questions you ask then the more attention you'll get.

Apparently, though, you're not allowed to ask the potential next Veep anything tooooo thought provoking, or else he'll take his bat and ball and go home.

Good to see some mature behaviour from someone who wants to sit a heartbeat away from the presidency and his team.

Hatred and Politics

Politics in America is a contact sport. Passions flare and the rhetoric can get heated and nasty. Political parties stoke these fires, playing on people's fears as a key fund-raising tactic.

Conservative authors have produced books with insulting titles like "If Democrats Had Any Brains, They Would Be Republicans" and "Liberalism is a Mental Disorder." The political left counters with ugly titles like "The I Hate Ann Coulter, Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh... Reader," "The I Hate Dick Cheney... Reader," and "The I Hate George W. Bush Reader."

It is ironic, yet natural, that the political left dominates hate literature. The irony is that the left championed "hate crimes" legislation. Having outlawed public expressions of hatred against various groups -- racial, linguistic, sexual orientation, etc.-- the left sees nothing hypocritical about fomenting hatred toward people of a different political orientation. Even if the "hate" authors don't personally hate Bush et al., people on the left must realize how such ugly language can poison susceptible minds.

While ironic, it is not surprising that hatred of political opponents is so virulent on the left. Hatred has long been a central pillar of leftist ideologies, premised as they are on trampling individual rights for the sake of a collectivist plan. Karl Marx boasted that he was "the greatest hater of the so-called positive." In 1923, V.I. Lenin chillingly declared to the Soviet Commissars of Education, "We must teach our children to hate. Hatred is the basis of communism." In his tract "Left-Wing Communism," Lenin went so far as to assert that hatred was "the basis of every socialist and Communist movement."

Indeed, it is easy to see the thread of hatred running through the various illiberal regimes of history, whether Soviet or Chinese communism or Hitler's national socialism. Only hatred could explain the willingness to kill, enslave, and rob vast numbers of innocent human beings. Hatred corrodes one's conscience. Under its toxic influence, a person will regard man's God-given right to be secure in his life, liberty, and property as nuisances to be overcome, not commandments to be obeyed. The flip side of hatred is an inflated self-love, self-importance, and self-righteousness so extreme that respect for other human beings diminishes and, in extreme cases (Stalin, Mao, Castro, Kim, et al.), disappears.

An incident recounted in the late Alexander Solzhenitsyn's The Gulag Archipelago illustrates this mental deformity (see "Thank You, Alexander Solzhenitsyn"). Soviet officials wanted to transport heavier loads of steel by railroad. When railroad engineers said that heavier loads would break down the tracks, they were shot as saboteurs of progress. When the loads were then increased, the tracks indeed broke down. Political goals could not nullify the principles of engineering.

A leftist conceit is that will-power can change the way the world works. It can't. This mad tendency persists today; signs of it are all around. A recent letter to the editor angrily insisted that the law of supply and demand didn't cause high gasoline prices, but that (what else?) evil oil companies did. The writer then vilified Americans for using too much gasoline (thereby contradicting his earlier statement that demand was irrelevant). So full of hatred is this writer that he spews contempt for economic laws. In his arrogant egotism, he blames the world's problems on the fact that millions of people make choices that he-who fancies himself more enlightened and morally superior to his fellows-thinks they shouldn't make. Welcome to the soul of leftism/illiberalism.

Hatred of individuals for ideological reasons is pathetic to behold. After conservative journalist Tony Snow passed on from a horrible disease (see "Tony Snow: Defender of the President and the Faith"), posters on the leftwing blog Daily Kos wrote "rest in hell" and "[I hope] there really is a hell and [Snow]'s burning in it now." How tragically self-demeaning such hatred is. It is a great sickness of spirit.

More recently, Gov. Sarah Palin has been the object of vicious vituperation and seething hatred (like the threat by comedienne Sandra Bernhard that Palin would be gang-raped if she campaigns in New York City). Perhaps her female attackers feel rebuked by her decision to choose life for babies. Perhaps they feel inadequate by comparison. When I see their contorted faces and hear the desperate unhappiness in their voices, I feel sorry for them and pray that the venom might leave their hearts.

South Australian government says Nazi flag is offensive but not illegal

And that's a distinction that seems to have been lost in lots of places. This episode is a pretty good test of the right to free expression in Australia. And Australia does not even have a First Amendment to fall back on:
"There is little the South Australian government can do to stop an Adelaide man flying a Nazi flag on his property. State Attorney-General Michael Atkinson said that while the flag was in very bad taste, the issue was one of freedom of expression.

"I assume that the tenants are that 1 per cent type people who just like to shock and disgust, like they've managed to do," he told ABC Radio. "Unless one can argue that it incites racial hatred, then I suspect it's a matter of free speech, free expression."

Yesterday, the suburban Croydon man forced a Nine Network crew off his property and gave no reason why he was flying the flag.

But the RSL [veterans' organization] has called it sickening, saying the flag was a symbol of a regime that took the world to war in 1939 costing millions of lives, including those of 40,000 Australian servicemen and women. "Australians will be rightly offended by this and most veterans are grossly offended by it," said RSL national president Bill Crews.

Source

Australians have a right to be proud that even this is tolerated. Australia and the USA may be the only countries where it would be. The guy would not last 5 minutes in Canada, Britain or Germany.

He subsequently took the flag down and said it was just a drunken prank.

"OPERATION ALOHA OBAMA" yields up truth about Barack Obama

There is no independent confirmation of this as yet but it is certainly a straw in the wind. It is actually good for Obama if true because it sets at rest doubts about whether he is a U.S. citizen

Internet powerhouse Andy Martin told a Honolulu news conference today that after an intense international investigation he is convinced that Barack Obama, Junior, the presidential candidate is really the son of Obama's controversial mentor Frank Marshall Davis.

"Mendacious adults 'switched' Obama at birth. That is why he has refused to allow access to the original or `vault' birth certificate," Martin told a Honolulu news conference. "We believe the original certificate did not list a father. Barack Obama became the father as a result of an agreement between Ann Dunham, Frank Marshall Davis and Barack Obama, Sr.

"Davis was already married to a White Woman. He did not need a nonmarital child by a second one. Ann probably refused to have what was then called a `back alley' abortion. Davis may have felt that `Obama' would face less stigma with an `African' background than a Negro one. The civil rights revolution, of course, turned that gambit upside down. In discovering and understanding what happened we cannot forget we are dealing with events in 1961, not 2008.

"The irony in all of this is that Obama once stated he did not want his daughters to be `victimized' with a child. And he is alive because his mother took the contrary view. "Barack Obama has known this since adulthood, and the shock of this discovery still reverberates in his psyche.

"Ironically, what I have to say today dilutes the `Muslim' theory that has propagated. Davis was not a Muslim. If Obama had told the truth at some point in his life, instead of living endlessly with the lies that were imposed on him by the adults in his life, we would have avoided a great deal of confusion. I, for one, have deep compassion for Mr. Obama. He is not the first person in history to be caught up in this kind of family fraud.

"The disclosure by the two women in his life that he was not the 'son' of his `father' also explains why he manifests such extreme ambivalence to both his mother and grandmother. He is angry because he was cheated of his real father. "Obama was robbed of his birthright of being the son of civil rights royalty, and of a father with whom he was completely simpatico. He could have grown up the son of Frank Marshall Davis, civil rights pioneer and activist, cutting-edge journalist, poet and man of letters. Mr. Davis was an extraordinary man in a dark period of this nation's history, the pre-dawn of the civil rights era.

"Obama has probably suspended his campaign and is flying to Honolulu because he is deathly afraid his grandmother may make a `dying declaration' and blow the whistle on his family fraud. Dying people often blurt out the truth. The true facts of Obama's parentage also reflect why there has been so much tension and alienation, as well as genuine love, in Obama's relationship with his grandmother. "Madelyn Dunham is the last surviving person who knows the truth about the switch. That is why as we closed in on Dunham, Obama went ballistic, cancelled his campaign and came to Hawai'i to head us off.

"I actually carry an official, certified pocket-sized birth certificate on me at all times [Andy shows a copy to media]. But this is NOT my `birth certificate.' The original certificate is held in the City Clerk's vault in Middletown, Connecticut. That is what has come to be known as the `vault copy.' "Likewise, the document that Obama has plastered over the Internet is NOT his original birth certificate or even a copy of his original certificate. It is a computer generated facsimile of an official record and nothing more. The original certificate was either handwritten or typewritten, not computer-generated in 1961. No one has ever seen that original certificate except the people that are working so hard to keep it hidden from the American people. "I am asking Judge Ayabe to impound the value certificate and have the court hold it for safekeeping.

"By the time Barack Obama learned who he was, it was too late to change his identity. He was who he was, so he continued the ruse of being the son of an `African herder,' which was yet another lie. `Dreams From My Father' bears no connection to dreams from Barack Obama; there were none. It was Frank Marshall Davis who communicated his dreams to his secret son.

"There is a simple way for Obama to resolve this controversy: he can either admit the truth of these facts and order the immediate release of his vault certificate; or he can submit to a DNA test. We can conduct a Maury Povich-style DNA test to determine filiation between Obama and his brothers, one of whom blogs at BarackObama.com.

"I bear Mr. Obama no ill will and no animus. I have only been a faithful servant of the search for truth, and I believe we finally know the secret truths about who Barack Obama really is: the son of Frank Marshall Davis.""

A REAL attack on the double standard about Sarah Palin

OK to say anything about Palin's family but must not even speak the truth about Obama's

Less than 24 hours ago, I put up this post on a news site. It refers to the fact that there are nude pictures of Obama's mother on the net. I didn't put them there (Though I think I know who did). I just drew attention to the pictures and made them more accessible.

The hate-mail and outraged comments from Leftists you can imagine. When however I wrote back to one of the Leftists and said that I assumed that he also was outraged by the false claims about Sarah Palin's family (claims that Trig was really her daughter's baby etc., etc.) he didn't even know what I was talking about. But as a Leftist he was much more likely to hear of the Leftist attacks on Palin's family than he was to see my post. Clearly the scurrilous and totally false attacks on Palin were like water off a duck's back to him. It was only adverse mentions of Obama's family that provoked outrage.

Exactly what I expected, of course. You must not not even speak the truth about the anointed one if there is anything unpleasant about it. He is a second Mohammed.

Leftists can dish it out but they can't take it back. If the Leftist comments about Palin had been even half civilized, I might have felt it inapproriate to mention Obama's mother but, as it was, I simply applied their rule that anything goes these days.

So let me make some more "outrageous" comments on the matter:

Astute Blogger has just put up a comparison of a known picture of Obama's mother with one of the pictures that I drew attention to. There is no doubt that both are of the same woman, even though the nude photo was of her when she was much younger. The long chin is particularly notable. Women normally (but not always) have receding chins. Very broadly, a strong chin in a woman indicates more testosterone and a strong sexual appetite.

Another thing to note: Frank Marshall Davis wrote an autobiography and "One chapter concerns the seduction by Mr Davis and his first wife of a 13-year-old girl called Anne".

So who did put up the pictures originally? I think they got onto the net via a bulletin board, one of the predecessors of the internet. Bulletin boards had LOTS of pictures of nude women. The photographer is the logical one to have uploaded them and Frank Marshall Davis died in 1987 -- well inside the lifetime of bulletin boards.

Barack Obama senior, on the other hand, died in Africa in 1982 and we read of his latter years: "Obama Sr.'s life then took a tailspin into drinking and poverty, from which he never recovered." So it seems unlikely that Barack Obama senior was the uploader.

Negotiable Honor

Once upon a time, America was a nation of individuals who wanted little more than to have the government leave us the hell alone.
Sure, take some taxes to pay for things like roads, the military, police and the like...you know, the sort of things that individuals can’t provide for themselves.

The sort of things that are specified in that trite old parchment, the U.S. Constitution.

Those days weren’t really all that long ago, but the times have surely changed.

Not all for the good, either.

Like that cartoon from Townhall.com says, the days of “What can I do for my country?” have changed to, “What do I get for free? ...and preferably from someone ELSE's sweat...”

Case in point: junkies suckling off the government teet through food stamps, subsidized housing, welfare checks, free medical coverage, free education (which, for some reason, they tend to avoid), and all they can do is plan their next high and whine about how “it’s so UNFAIR” that they don’t have MORE.

Enter the sock puppet barack hussein obama with his impossible promises of something for nothing (tax cuts for 95% of the people, when less than half actually PAY taxes?) and you have all kinds of creatures – who might otherwise be mistaken for respectable folks – suddenly showing how “negotiable” their ethics really are.

Like colin powell – whom I used to respect – who has now joined wes clark as further proof that ex-generals getting into politics is generally a bad thing.
His “recent” decision to endorse the sock puppet is nothing more than blatant ass-kissing, and looks like it might very well succeed if Americans have a collective brain-fart and actually put the ultimate empty suit in the Oval Office.
For that matter, if endorsements really did matter all that much, how come the obama campaign isn't crowing about their endorsement by the terrorists' favorite network, al-Jazeera, or the one by Ari Larijani, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament
?
Like I said, used to be a time when Americans placed more importance on what they could do for themselves, rather than what some bloated bureaucrap can now take from people who sweated and earned it, then give the spoils to the ungrateful slugs, unearned.

There’s still a few of us left who think for ourselves and don’t want to subsidize parasites.
Let’s hope there’s enough of us around to keep the socialists from taking over all three Branches of government.

The thought of nancy pelosi, harry reid, and the sock puppet obama running America unchecked is a horror movie that the world doesn't need to see.

Global cooling hits Australia again

Brisbane has its coldest October morning since 1976. I must say I was surprised at how nippy it was when I opened my door this morning

COLD southerly winds blowing up from the snow-capped Blue Mountains have given Brisbane its coldest October morning in 32 years. The mercury fell to 10.6 degrees in the City just before 5am, more than five degrees below average for this time of year. The previous lowest for October was 7.3 degrees in 1976, although Brisbane also recorded 6.3 degrees in October in 1899 at a now-disused weather station. Amberley had an even colder start waking up to 6 degrees and Stanthorpe shivered on just two degrees.

But senior forecaster Vikash Prasad said Stanthorpe's previous coldest October day was -2 in 1966. "It's certainly our coldest day since winter. The lowest temperature in September was 11 so it is unusual for Spring," Mr Prasad said. He said the trough that caused the storms had moved off the coast and was being replaced by dry air and southerly winds coming up from interstate. "There was snow on the Blue Mountains yesterday which is very unusual for this time of year and Sydney had a very cold day," Mr Prasad said.

Valor - boldness or determination in facing great danger, esp. in battle

Example - After being shot twice during an ambush in Afghanistan an SAS soldier tied himself to his patrol vehicle and kept on fighting.

Suffering from serious wounds to the upper body, the Digger clambered on to the front of the SAS long range patrol vehicle (LPRV), tying himself between the bull bar and the radiator so he wouldn't be left behind if he passed out.

Once secured, he picked up his rifle and continued shooting at the enemy as the squad made a two hour fighting withdrawal. The Digger, who cannot be identified, is likely to be recommended for a high level bravery award.

He reportedly slipped in an out of consciousness, emptying several magazines as enemy fire continued to pour down around the vehicle. Eventually he was evacuated at high speed from the battle field, still lashed to the front of the LRPV.

The wounded Digger will make a full recovery from his wounds after the September 2 battle. He and several others involved are now in line for top military honours.

MK - The SAS, God love em', thank God they're on our side. Where ever you are, who ever you are, you and your fellow warriors have our gratitude, our support and our admiration.

Naughty Obama Mamma

It's amazing what there is on the internet. A geneological researcher has emailed me with three pictures of Obama's mother in the nude. That would be of trivial interest except for the setting in which the picures were taken. They were clearly taken in a sophisticated mid-century apartment and my correspondent suggests that the apartment details could be used to identify the photographer. He feels that the photographer is the Communist "Frank" whom Obama mentions as his mentor. That Frank was so intimate with Obama's mother would support the contention that Frank was in fact Obama's father. Various bloggers have pointed out how similar Obama looks to "Frank" and the coverup of Obama's birth certificate is certainly very suspicious.

I will not post the pictures here as Google would undoubtedly take down this blog as soon as I did. Instead, I have posted the pictures here and here and here.

I give below part of the email from my correspondent:
By pure serendipity I found a photo of what I believe is Stanley Ann Dunham; two more I found through sheer plod. They are taken before Christmas by the decorations and unopened presents. Also a stereo and records that an expert could confirm as jazz records are in view. There is a distinctive grain to the wood floors. I do research including genealogical and had downloaded everything I could find. Not much. So when I saw the picture, I locked on the the ear lobes, chin, eyebrows. It is she. A nude photo, not distasteful, but posed, I believe, by a mature man who knows what he likes, including jazz and now we know young girls. One could ascertain the location of where the photos were taken.

And the shoes..not indigenous to Hawaii, but maybe not unusual for Helen Canfield Chicago socialite and Marshall's second wife. The photos are important in the sense that they explain the going to Chicago and the immediate acceptance by the hard left, if his father is Frank Marshall Davis, not just his mentor
