Avatar - A foolish greenie fantasy

I've been hearing a lot about this movie, best this, biggest earner that, wow did you see it, so I thought I share my take on it with you. Ok I did see it, over in India, wasn't the full 3D or 4D or whatever, effect, but I will say from the outset that the special effects were really good. Beautiful colors, a real feast for the eyes.

But that's about all the good points I can say about it. As most of you who have watched it know, it's basically about evil nasty humans strip mining and helping themselves to the resources of a far-away planet Pandora, apparently the thing they're after is called unobtanium, really original isn't it. If you ask me, it was a badly-concealed shot at Americans, the Marines, corporations and westerners, not all mankind.

Anyway the inhabitants, best described as savages, of this planet didn't really like all this strip mining and what not, so the humans created these avatar bodies that humans in fancy machines control via their thoughts and such, to 'reach-out' to the savages and ease relations so to speak. The savages are off course naturists or something, talking to trees, apologizing to the animals they kill to eat, holding hands, chanting and swaying to a tree, usual moonbat behavior. Even though we see them regrettably kill animals for food, we never see them eat any meat though, funny that. Either way they're the nice people you see, talking to trees, coddling flowers, worshipping some tree god or such.

The humans who created the avatars are also similarly nice people, they're like the progressives or multi-culturalists of today, all cultures are equal, tolerance, kumbaya, we are the world, sorry for the imperialism of the past and all that. Not surprisingly I didn't see any of them eating meat either, some sort of message being sent here? Anyway they're obviously friendly to the savages and vice versa. Funny thing is that these aliens that exist on this so-called Pandora planet, who are so much better than us bastard humans, have far too many human qualities if you ask me. Qualities like hate, anger, jealousy, envy, love, joy etc. The progressives reaching out to the noble savages, touching and feeling, seem to be making progress, gee what a surprise.

But it all turns to shit when the mean corporation figures out that the savages don't want anything from them and start pushing trees over and throwing their weight around. Anyhoo the savages decide too many trees, yes trees, have been hurt and war breaks out. In the first round, the humans unleash shock & awe on the savages and bring down their home-tree into a burning, smoldering heap, it's all very sad and all that, the savages are scattered and bloodied. I have a feeling the movie-writers allowed this only to garner support for the savages and stoke anger at the nasty Americans.

Up until this point the movie is accurate in portraying the superior power of humans, or to be more precise western power. You see the savages for some reason discovered the bow and arrow, the odd knife and that was it, they just stopped discovering shit. A lot like some of the other cultures that used to be wandering around on this planet. An example, the weapons wielded by Aztec warriors were about the same or inferior to those wielded by those who fought under Alexander the Great back when he was whipping persian ass almost 2000 years prior to the Aztecs.

Another example, the Zulu warriors that fought the British over in Africa used the assegai, which is really just a fancy spear and couldn't make any Spartan jaws drop in awe, maybe in laughter or curiosity, but certainly not in awe. As expected they were slaughtered by the Martini-Henry rifles of the British. Now that I think about the Zulu weapons, forget the British, I'm sure Spartan phalanxes would have made quick work of the Zulus.

So basically the humans who kicked pandoran ass were basically fighting the Zulus and Aztecs wielding knives, bows and arrows with Smart missiles and hellfires. The humans were really holding back and didn't want to be cruel, which is why the savages were only scattered, in the movie the fellow leading the humans actually made it back in time for his afternoon coffee and snacks, not hard to believe.

From this point on the movie really surged into stupendous leftist/greenie fantasy, the savages rallied, numbering 10,000 or something and with the help of the human traitors who joined the savages via their avatars, retaliated and defeated the humans. Even their tree-god or was it goddess, rallied her creatures into fighting the nasty humans. Anyway the remaining humans were humiliated and kicked off Pandora, never to return and that was the end. The savages went back to their chanting, swaying and fornication.

I still remember sitting in that theatre saying, what shit! Read ya history morons. Alright, let's just say the savages throwing stones, shooting arrows and flying around on birds really did manage to down Apache gunships and heavy bombers. We'll play along with the leftist fantasy and give them that win, even then that cannot be the end of it.

No way in hell, if you study the history of western culture which originated in Greece millennia ago and whose heart is in modern-day America and honestly applied that to the story line, that would be the last battle the savages of Pandora would have won and it would have been the end of their very existence. Look to the Romans who were slaughtered by Hannibal's armies at Cannae, they were annihilated but around a year later, they were back to fighting power and killing Africans outside Carthage.

Look to Hernan Cortes who first got his ass whipped by the Aztecs, and then went on to bring about the end of the Aztec empire, consigned their civilization and way of life to the history books. Now think, the Romans and the Spanish Conquistadors didn't have Apache gunships, tanks, automatic weapons and heavy bombers and yet they still kicked ass.

In reality the human would have returned to Pandora after the initial humiliating defeat and they would have laid waste to any and all resistance, tree-goddess, dragons, birds, fancy animals, monkeys and all. Harsh and maybe cruel, but that's what's happened in the past, over and over. The savages would have jumped at the chance to help the humans obtain their unobtanium, just to survive. To pretend otherwise would be just dumb.

So have your fantasy greenies and lefties, but that's all it'll ever be, a fantasy.

  2. Oh good, the welfare queues and crack lines will get a bit smaller then. Not that our taxes will go down, but i'll take what i can get.

And to boot, even gaia will be pleased, every cut in emissions helps you know.

  3. Completely right, MK. There's no way the "savages" could have posed any threat to the Americans.

    Just like Iraq.

  4. Thanks Anon.

And you are right about savages, they are everywhere but really pose no threat, assuming westerners understand and live their culture.

  5. I think anonymous is being sarcastic, MK. The savages in Iraq and elsewhere sure do pose a threat. Savages don't use bows and arrows, they use IEDs and panty-bombs.
