A government cap on gas prices?

LiveNews - The federal government in considering a proposal which could prevent service stations from raising their prices by more than 3 cents a litre over a 24-hour period. The plan has been designed to try to stop large oil companies from colluding to raise their prices, particularly during holiday periods. NRMA president of motoring and services Alan Evans says it's a move that is needed to protect consumers.

I don't know folks, I'm seeing petrol companies jacking up their prices by 3 cents every day and then leaving them there for longer. I wouldn't be surprised if the price starts going up earlier in the week and probably not coming down at all, shafting those of us who wait for the cheapest day to fill up. What say you?
